I have heard rumors of a "Pre-Release" of Version 11, but I don't think anything is concrete at this point.  Does anyone know the best way to get notified of the pre-release if and when it happens?

I hear the Pre-release is being posted in two weeks.  Maybe an email will go out?  New releases are always posted on the Technical Support Zone, under New Releases.  Maybe a New Release email notification system needs to be implemented.

That would be simple and handy, but the it might cause the servers to crash when everyone downloads it after the email get sent out  ;)

The brand new V11 official pre-release is ready for download! Also the brand new Innovmetric website is live.  You can download the pre-release on the website, under New Releases in the Technical Support Zone, or you can download it, probably faster, from the ftp site

ftp://ftp.innovmetric.com/pub/nt/prerelease

Download the 32-bit version unless you are running a 64-bit OS like Vista or XP 64-bit.

The unzip password for the files is given in the text Readme file to the right of the file name on the Technical Support Zone.

Will we need new license keys?

//UPDATE: I did obtain a new license key and everything is working great.

Hello,

The official V11.0 is being uploaded to the TSZ (Technical Support Zone) this morning. Those are large files, so the upload should be completed sometime during the day...

Thanks Bernard!  Can you confirm that we will need to uninstall the Pre-Release before installing the official version and we can't just install the V11 on top of the V11 P.R.

Hello,

I have not yet tried but I read an email saying that you could have the Pre-Release and the Officiel release on the same computer concurently...

I do not recommend this, though. the Officiel release is more stable and has a lot of thing fixed, the Pre-Release has no advantage over the official V11.0 release.

If you are a client, you certainly do not want to keep the Pre-Release installed. you can uninstall it.

Bernard

Good explanation, thanks!

So, finally we got V11.0.0  ;)

Just one suggestion concerning the parallel use of V10.1. and V11: If you want to do so just remember to use different user configurations for each version (the legendary '.innovmetric'), change the path each time you change the Version (can be done in the configuration settings of the WorkSpaceManager).

A lot of new and nice features are waiting for us ;D

Hello,

This may be a little late, but a whole new set of default values have been implemented into V11. there was a project to make the defaults as good as possible.

So, you may want to rename your .innovmetric folder, let polyworks create a new one. you will then have the new "defaults".

If you do not do this, you will keep your "old" defaults.

Your .innovmetric folder may contain custom gauges, color scales, etc, so you may want to keep them and transfert them into the new .innovmetric folder. I think all the files in there are text files, so you can take a look to see and guess from their content what they are. The sub-folder in which you'll find them will also tell you a lot about their nature.
