Point Cloud from CAD File

I'm trying to generate a point cloud from a CAD file.  I would like to specify a max point spacing when generating the point cloud.  I can't figure it out.

Just an idea, I haven't tested it, but in theory it should work.

First export the cad model as a polygonal model and re-import it. Then export it as a point cloud, then re-import that point cloud. That should give you a cloud of the edges and holes.

For the surfaces, create comparison points on the cad model by using the "sample using grid" method. Create a report table from all the created comparison points then export it to excel. Copy the date from excel into note pad then import that data as a point cloud.
