Need some tips. do you recommend hexagon for yearly calibration, or can i use someone local who says they can certify a romer arm that is already in spec. what credentials should i look for in a calibration professional? need help

Jeff

We tried using an outside company besides the OEM to do a calibration on a bridge CMM we have. That went fine but we had a problem later with the machine and needed to go back to the OEM for the repair. They were not in a hurry to get our machine back up and running after they found out we had a 3rd party calibrate it. They also tried to blame the 3rd party for causing part of the problem. It ended up costing us more time and money to get this all corrected. You may want to think twice before going to a 3rd party for the calibration. I am sure they can do it but it may cost you in the end. Good luck! Jeff

i was curious about establishing NIST traceability on my spherical artifact, and my length bar, and doing the arm calibration myself. i would love to have some input about this.
