I recently have found an expensive drawback of a ScanShark attached to the Romer Arm. The Damper is not strong enough. All the force is used to hold up and not pull down the arm. Does anyone have any experiance creating a device that will lock the 2 arms together so the scanner will not fall and smash the floor between scan operations? I bumped the arm while walking around it and the arm fell right to the floor with the scanner first..

I know Romer has a fix for this but I have not seen what they changed. We still have the original lock on ours and it is holding for now.

I have the lock. It does wonders when not the machine is not in use. My issue is that the arm does not take much/if any force to pull the arm down. It seams s as if the the damper is not even close to strong enough? So what was romers fix?

I always lock mine with the scanner attached (infinite arm), but this still happened.  I found later (after I had recovered from my heart attack) that even with it locked I could flick the latch and the arm would fall  :o.  That got replaced quick!

Mine won't stand on it's own with the scanner attached either. my lock is holding for now. (romer infinite arm).
