Inspector / Roundness
July 30, 2012, 04:03:17 AM
I am inspecting a scanned cylinder ID. The part has a few holes drilled into it and I would like to check for roundness of the cylinder above and below the drilled holes. I am having trouble finding a way to measure if the cylinder is tapered or oblong because of the manufacturing process.

Any way to achieve this?

IMAlign / Clean Edges

Using ScanShark w/ Romer Arm

After scanning in IMAlign, doing best fit, creating a polygonal model and inporting to IMEdit, i am left with a scan that has aweful edge lines. Looks the same way in IMAlign also.

I have played with the filtering, max line distance, 60hz 30hz, high-curvature restricted, low curvature restricted. You name it. I still have poor quality edge lines.

Being new to this while rev-eng thing, is this a normal result? My edges look nothing like the IP bezzel in the Tutorial.. Perhaps someone can pass along some helpful tips?

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / Re: Romer Arm - Balance

I have the lock. It does wonders when not the machine is not in use. My issue is that the arm does not take much/if any force to pull the arm down. It seams s as if the the damper is not even close to strong enough? So what was romers fix?

General Discussion / Romer Arm - Balance

I recently have found an expensive drawback of a ScanShark attached to the Romer Arm. The Damper is not strong enough. All the force is used to hold up and not pull down the arm. Does anyone have any experiance creating a device that will lock the 2 arms together so the scanner will not fall and smash the floor between scan operations? I bumped the arm while walking around it and the arm fell right to the floor with the scanner first..

I have used it for probing. It does save time going back and forth. I am using a ScanShark on a Romer Absolute Arm. I cannot get it to connect while scanning though. My guess is that I have a conflict while the scanner is hooked up to the LAN and trying to use wifi for the Talisman function at the same time.

Has anyone else been able to use both LAN and wifi connection at the same time?

I havent tried to scan into IMInspect ye but will do that next.
I scanned in Scanworks and imported to IMAlign, got the same result. Now back to default settings luckily.

IMAlign / What happened to scanned data?

Ok I am scanning using IMAlign with a Perceptron ScanShark. No matter whaat default profile setting (ie. MatteMetal, ShinyMetal) the scan looks great as I am scanning. However, once I click the "End Scan" Button, more than 3.4 of all scanned data has disappeared.

How can I keep 100% I have been working on a tiny 10" Brake Booster for 2 day?!?!?!?!?!?

Saw the video of the new features for V12 and looks good. Love the mobile device feature, Talisman.
Anyone know when it is going to be released?

I have finished with the Basic tutorials that have come with Polyworks and am looking for more. Anyone know where to find some? Google search resulted in more product info than actual tutorials.

Thanks

Inspector / Re: Updating report items?

What I am planning on doing is reusing the same complete file for future inspections that already have the features and tables completed in the report so that my workflow on subsequent parts would be a matter of "reprobing measured data" and compiling the report complete with screenshots.

Yes it will happen very often. Is there anychance the macro you have created names each "feature" table the name given to the feature tree in the items menu?

Inspector / Updating report items?
August 19, 2011, 10:39:39 AM
I wish to reuse an iminspect file. At present there are about 200 features that I have created screen shots and a report for. SInce adding those items to the report I now have my nominal numbers defined. Furthermore when I get my next part in my goal is to just reprobe measured data and automatically update the items in the report.

Is there a way to do this? It took about 8 hours to generate each report post inspection. Looking for a way to streamline this process.
