Title: PolyWorks and anti virus software
Post by: tobiwan on December 16, 2009, 12:14:43 AM
Hello Everyone,

the McAfee anti virus ssoftware sometimes seems to (wrongly) recognize some temporary EZLayout (11.0.11) files as Trojans. Does anyone else have this effect and do you have a solution besides changing the anti virus softwarer?
Do you know other anti virus software that influence the work with PolyWorks?

Cheers, Tobias

Hello,
Have you tried to exclude these files from the anti-virus scan process using files / directories exclusion (*.pwk; *.psl, c:\MyData, etc.)? Most anti-virus software support something like this.

First report I have of this...

We had an anti-virus that interfered in the installation of Polyworks... it would delete the polyworks.exe as soon as it got extracted from the .msi file and put it in a quarantine area...

But McAfee... It's well known and widely used antivirus... I would have thought the problem would have arisen to more than one site...

I've used Norton Antivirus, Avast, and ZoneAlarm and never had an issue like that...  ZoneAlarm used to ask me to whitelist the various modules the first time I ran them, but otherwise no problems.
