Title: PC specs
Post by: drewk1 on December 02, 2014, 12:27:03 AM
Hi

I'm wondering what spec pc's people are running Polyworks/IMInspect on for laser line scanning.

I'm using:

Manufacturer FUJITSU
  Model CELSIUS M470-2
Total amount of system memory 24.0 GB RAM
  System type 64-bit operating system
  Number of processor cores 4

Storage
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total size of hard disk(s) 466 GB
Disk partition (C:) 314 GB Free (464 GB Total)
  Media drive (D:) CD/DVD
Disk partition (E:) 935 MB Free (2 GB Total)

Graphics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter type NVIDIA Quadro 4000
Total available graphics memory 14075 MB
        Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB
        Dedicated system memory 0 MB
        Shared system memory 12027 MB
  Display adapter driver version 9.18.13.3276
  Primary monitor resolution 1920x1080
  Secondary monitor resolution 1920x1080
  DirectX version DirectX 10

This works ok but does tend to slow down quite a bit while processing and during auto saves.

I think an SSD drive is planned soon by our IT guy and hopefully this will speed things up a bit.

I would be interested in hearing on other users experiences with different hardware set ups.

The solid stat drive will help a lot. We changed out a drive on one of our laptops after going to 2014 because the real time meshing was very slow. This fixed the problem. Here is Innovmetric spec but it does not say SSD.
